Barcelona is Real Madrid's Kryptonite

Once again, Barcelona proved that they are Real Madrid's kryptonite. Real Madrid was the favorite to win the first leg of the Spanish Supercup. Not only did they have home field advantage (the game was at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid) but they were also much more prepared, having a very productive pre-season.Yet when push came to shove, and there were lots of pushes and shoves, Real Madrid could not pull off the win. The game ended in a draw (2-2) despite the fact that Real Madrid played a better game.

Real Madrid had possession of the ball for most of the game and created more goal scoring opportunities. They also played with their starting lineup while injuries prevented the Catalan team from doing so; both Pique and Xavi came in as subs in the second half.

The goal scorers were: Mezut Ozil 13', David Villa 36', Lionel Messi 45', and Xabi Alonso 54'.The best goal of the night was definitely David Villa's, it was similar to Gio Dos Santos' goal in the Gold Cup final. His shot curved beautifully into the corner of the net making it impossible for Iker Casillas to reach it. Although Messi made it onto the score sheet, he was practically invisible for most of the game. Cristiano Ronaldo made his presence noticeable but could not get the ball past Victor Valdes.

All and all it was a good game. Should Madrid have won? Yes without a doubt. Are they going to need a miracle to win at Camp Nou? Yes, without a doubt!
