Mexico vs. USA: the Bitter Taste of a Draw 1-1

Summary:
It was definitely a tale of two half's. Mexico played a great first half while the US played a better second half. Each team scored a goal in their better half. Oribe Peralta scored the goal for Mexico while Robbie Rogers scored the goal for the American team. Brek Shea (who was subbed in the second half) made a huge difference for the Yanks, he solidified his place on the team. The villain of the game was definitely Gerardo Torrado who pulled down Robbie Rogers as he was about to score his second goal of the night. In the end it was a great game and it was a good debut for Jurgen Klinsmann.

My Opinion:
Both teams played pretty evenly. Mexico had many opportunities to score in the first half while the clock was the only thing that prevented the US from scoring in the second half.

Torrado is being villainised for what he pulled on Rogers but honestly it was pretty smart. He saved his team from losing because Rogers was surely going to score. I remember during the past World Cup when Uruguay's Luis Suarez stopped Ghana's goal with his hand he was considered heroic. We was a hero because his handball prevented his team from losing. Well Torrado saved his team too, was it polite and legal? No. Did it work? Yes.

The player of the night, was definitely Memo Ochoa who made various impossible saves for El Tri.

All in all, it was a success for the Yanks. Mexico is an established team and this should have been and easy victory for them but they struggled to maintain the draw.  The Yanks are under-construction and still have a lot of kinks to work out. If this is a reflection of what's to come for the Yanks, then I for see a lot of greatness for Klinsmann's team.
